John Lawrence Tone

John Lawrence Tone teaches courses about Cuban and Spanish history and the history of medicine and disease. He benefited at Columbia University from the wisdom of legendary Cuban historian Manuel Moreno Fraginals. Tone is also the author of several articles and books on Spanish and Cuban history, including the prize-winning War and Genocide in Cuba.
His current research is on the history of yellow fever. He has received grants from the Fulbright Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Philosophical Society. He teaches courses on The French Revolution and Napoleon, Intellectual History, Modern Spain, Modern Cuba, and The History of Medicine.
